Asajj Ventress All Three Lightsabers: green, red and yellow

Asajj Ventress used several lightsabers in her journey, each one representing a distinct phase in her life.

As a Padawan, Ventress wielded a green lightsaber, she then used two red curved-hilt lightsabers when she served the Sith Lord Count Dooku whose own weapon had a similar hilt design. Finally, Ventress had to get a new yellow lightsaber after losing her red ones in a fight with Barriss Offee in the Coruscant lower levels.

The Green Lightsaber: A Jedi Padawan’s Weapon

As revealed in a Season 3 episode of “The Clone Wars” animated series, Ventress’s first lightsaber was a green bladed weapon, she carried during her time as a Jedi Padawan under the tutelage of Master Ky Narec.

However, tragedy struck when Weequay pirates attacked and killed Master Narec leaving Ventress orphaned and adrift, in a moment of rage and grief, she took up not only her own green lightsaber but also Narec’s, using the paired blades to exact revenge by slaying twelve warlords who had plagued the war-torn world of Rattatak.

This act of violence marked Ventress’s first step down the path of the dark side, she ultimately abandon the green lightsaber she had carried as a symbol of her Jedi heritage.

The Twin Red Lightsabers: Falling to the Dark Side

After her fall to the dark side, Ventress found herself in the service of Count Dooku, the former Jedi Master who had become a Sith Lord and the leader of the Separatist movement, it was Dooku who gifted Ventress a pair of red bladed lightsabers, curved-hilt weapons that had once belonged to one of his former Padawans, he gifted them to Ventress when she joined him as his assassin and secret apprentice.

Her new red Sith lightsabers were a sharp turn from the green blade she had before, their deep red glow showed her new dark force ties, the curved hilts were like her lord Dooku’s own lightsaber, a mark of their twisted master-student bond.

Ventress fought well with the twin red lightsabers, using them to beat many opponents in the Clone Wars fights, even the Jedi Master Luminara Unduli who she warred to a stop. The lightsabers could be used one by one or joined together forming a deadly S-shaped double bladed lightsaber that gave her an advantage in combat.

However, Ventress lost those lightsabers when Dooku went against her on the orders from his master Darth Sidious, Barriss Offee stole the lightsabers to frame Ahsoka Tano for the blast at the Jedi Temple hangar.

The Yellow Lightsaber: A New Path as a Bounty Hunter

Asajj Ventress returns in “Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3”, she now wields a yellow bladed lightsaber.

After being betrayed by Dooku and losing her red lightsabers, Ventress felt lost searching for a new purpose and identity, it was during this period that she obtained a new yellow bladed lightsaber through the black market.

Ventress’s yellow blade came from a cylindrical-shaped hilt, the power cell sat at the base under the ridged grip, the switch was right over the grill hilt which covered the rest of the hilt up to the blade emitter.

The lightsaber had a traditional grip at the bottom that was ridged and fully closed off to protect the power cell, the upper section of the hilt which made up about three fifths of the lightsaber was made of perforated metal, leaving the inner blade bits exposed. Still,  this design did not compromise the weapon’s functionality or vulnerability to moisture.
