Who Has a Bronze Lightsaber in Star Wars?
The characters who have a bronze lightsaber in Star Wars are Lowbacca and Freedon Nadd.
1. Lowbacca
Lowbacca or “Lowie” was a Force-sensitive Wookiee who was part of the Jedi Knights group during the Yuuzhan Vong War time, Lowbacca’s name in the Wookiee language means “dutiful friend”, he was the nephew of “Chewbacca”, his parents were “Kallabow” and “Mahraccor”, he learned at Luke Skywalker’s Jedi school and he was a friend of Jaina Solo, Jacen Solo, Anakin Solo, Zekk and Tenel Ka.
Lowbacca used a bronze lightsaber, he created the blade’s unique tint by salvaging computer parts from the Jedi Temple on Yavin IV and using an enhancement jewel instead of a traditional kyber crystal.
Lowbacca’s bronze lightsaber first showed up in the book “Young Jedi Knights: Lightsabers” written by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta in 1996. Later that year, in another book from the series named “Young Jedi Knights: Darkest Knight”, the lightsaber appeared on the cover.
2. Freedon Nadd
Freedon Nadd was a Jedi trained at the academy on Ossus who turned to the dark side of the Force and became one of the most powerful and influential Sith Lords in galactic history.
Freedon Nadd had a short bronze lightsaber, he made the lightsaber himself by using a rubat crystal in the blade and chosing a standard cylindrical and straight handle style.
After training under Naga Sadow and then killing him, Nadd took this Sith lightsaber with him, he went to the planet Onderon and ruled there with the dark side of the Force, only someone who followed the dark side could use this lightsaber.
In the year 3951 BBY, some people helping Meetra Surik broke into Freedon Nadd’s tomb on Dxun, the moon of Onderon, they did this to stop the Sith from taking over Onderon in a coup.
A book named “The Dark Side Sourcebook” from 2001 first talked about Freedon Nadd’s bronze lightsaber, the lightsaber appeared later in the video game “Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords”, this game gave more details about this lightsaber, the story says only people following the dark side can use this bronze lightsaber, but in the game any Jedi character can use it no matter if they follow the light side or the dark side.
